Boston University School of Medicine is renamed.

The school is renamed the Boston University Aram V. Chobanian & Edward Avedisian School of Medicine in 2022. The name change is made to honor school’s longtime dean and his longtime friend, who donated $100 million to the institution. Avedisian, a clarinetist for the Boston Pops and Boston Ballet Orchestra and a successful investor, initially insisted the school be renamed only for his friend. But Chobanian agreed to the move only if his friend’s be included.
